Happy BRRRthday Mehandis

Mehandis turned 4 on the 4th of December... his golden and "frozen" birthday.  As many a mid-western might remember we were lucky to experience an unseasonably warm fall into late November.

No hats, snowpants or mittens were needed.  Abera just used a light blanket to keep warm.  Definitely was more wet and muddy then chilly.
Mehandis and the neighbor girls have fun digging in our recently tree free front yard
When thinking through possible activities for Mehandis's birthday a trip to the zoo (albeit in December) seemed like a great option.  And it was a blast!  A snowy blast that came that day made it even more fun.
Dressed a bit warmer for his birthday zoo event
Kudos to both sets of grandparents (and baby Elisa) who braved the drive and braced for the cold to join us!  We spent the most time in the reptile/fish "warming" house.  But definitely hit all the hot spots inside and out.

Hot chocolate/Diet Cokes and cupcakes were enjoyed by all while Mehandis opened his presents.  What was his favorite gift, asked by my parents, his answer "Underwear".   Good work Nanni and Bompa!!!

Loving up cousin Elisa

Our little Bear snug, wide-eyed and warm
Everyone got a chance to participate in snowball fun as we walked between exhibits.  Gotta keep moving to keep warm!

A home made snowball cake, covered in whip cream and coconut frosting, was shared back at home.

Our big kid enjoyed big full day!
